In this differentiated place value game, there are three mats available for teachers to choose from depending on the readiness of their students. Each player will need their own mat and enough base cubes to make either 30, 50 or 100. Players roll one die if playing to 30 and 2 dice if playing to 50 or 100. Players take turns rolling, counting the number rolled and then adding that number of cubes to their playing mat. When they have 10 cubes on their ‘ones’ section, they trade them in for tens ... Differentiated Kindergarten’s St. Patrick’s Day Survived!
It’s one of my most favorite times of the year, but it's also so darn exhausting. Seriously, being a trickily leprechaun is no easy task. And keeping the magic of the season alive for little ones, while so incredibly fun, can poop a poor kindergarten teacher-mom right out. Now any other time of the year, that would mean absolutely NOTHING to them. But this time of year...we start suspecting LEPRECHAUNS. So I'm linking up with my friend Mary over at Sharing Kindergarten, to give you a peek at some of my St. Pat's Day fun both at home and at school.Anyone ... VIEW POST
Mapping Words – High Frequency Words – Fry’s First 100 – St. Patrick’s Theme
Need a way for students to INDEPENDENTLY practice mapping high frequency words? This is IT!!! The Science of Reading supports Orthographic Mapping as an essential tool in building fluent readers. This process helps students connect the sounds that they hear in words to the spelling that those sounds make. Mapping out sounds makes words more easily recognizable, and the words become part of a reader’s long-term memory. When students have the opportunity to practice this mapping ... VIEW POST
