Description

This unit contains 13 different activities from which you can choose to introduce your students to Word Work Stations. These stations are meant to be introductions to stations that your students will use throughout the year. Each station includes a visual instructional sheet which should help with these beginning of the year stations. They will allow your students to get used to the routines and procedures of your classroom and stations. You will also notice that the corresponding beginning letter pictures in this packet match my Alphabet posters, charts and ABC books in order to reinforce beginning letter sound association.

The following activities are included:
Station 1:Linking Alphabet Friends-Students you plastic links for this letter order and recognition activity.
Station 2: Star Letter Order- Students recognize letters and write the consecutive letters that come after.
Station 3: Write the Room For Back To School-This is a differentiated letter recognition activity.
Station 4: Letter Sorting Mats
Station 5: Play-doh (or Wikki Sticks) Letter Mats
Station 6: Time for Recess-Letter recognition game.
Station 7: Star Student-Letter recognition game
Station 8: Back To School Letter Memory
Station 9: See Say Color-See the letter, say it and color the corresponding letter and/or the item with the corresponding beginning letter sound.

This activity is aligned to Common Core Standards:
RF.K.1d Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet.
RF.K.2a Recognize and produce rhyming words.
RF.K.3a Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
L.K.1a Print many upper- and lowercase letters.
