K.OA.A.5:  Fluently add and subtract within 5

Teachers: There are both addition and subtraction I-spy activities included in this packet and two tiers of difficulty for each. Tier 1 for addition and subtraction address numbers through 5. Tier 2 for addition and subtraction address numbers through 10. Each has two different colored and black and white recording sheet from which you can choose. Choose an I-Spy mat for your student based on their readiness level. Supply your student with a magnifying glass and a dry erase marker. Students search for number sentences. When they find one, they can circle it on the mat to keep track of which they have already found. Then they record the sentence in the appropriate location on their recording sheet. When my students have completed this activity once, I give them the option of timing themselves to see if how quickly they can complete the task and help build fluency.
