Description

I-Spy: This I-Spy addresses Numbers and Math concepts.

This Activity Is Aligned To Common Core State Standards:
K.CC.5: Count to answer ‘how many?’ questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.

This number recognition I-Spy activity is aligned to common core standards and is differentiated to address the various readiness levels in your classroom. Students will use magnifying glasses to ‘spy’ numbers hidden in the pictures. When they find the number, they will write it on the recording sheet and on one sheet they can represent the number in a ten frames. There is the option of students simply drawing the same number of ‘pumpkins’ in a box on a different recording sheet if they are not yet familiar with ten frames. There is a tier for numbers 1-10 which is orange. There is second brown tier for numbers 1-15. And, finally the third, yellow, tier has 15 random numbers from 1-20 to find.

Teachers: There are two different options for recording sheets for this activity. If you prefer to use black/white copies for your students to use with pencil, that is available. In my classroom, I laminate all the colored copies and provide dry erase markers for my students to use for recording their answers. Either option is available for you here. If you enjoy this activity, please check out all the other differentiated activities and I-spy units available in my store or differentiated ideas on my blog.
