Description

Aligns to Common Core State Standards:
RF.K 2d: Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words
Instructions: Students will use magnifying glasses to find missing CVC words in the picture. When they find a word, they will identify the medial sound and write the word under the picture with the same initial sound. So if they find the word ‘cat,’ they would write the word under the box with the ‘apple.’

Teachers: Print off either the colored or black and white version of this activity. If you are using the colored version, you can laminate the picture and recording sheet to make it last.
Answer Key:
A: nap, fan, rat, jam
E: den, set, peg, men
I: pig, tin, fit, lip
O: cop, hot, top, dog
U: pup, tug, nut, sun
