This Sight Word I-Spy Activity is appropriate for beginning sight word readers to more advanced. There are over 220 sight words included in this set.
It is aligned to Common Core Standards:
RF.K.3c: Read common high frequency words by sight.
RF.1.3g: Recognize and Read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words.
RF.2.3f: Recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words.
This is a fun sight word activity tiered so that you can meet your students right at their readiness level. Students use magnifying glasses to find the hidden Dolch words in each picture. As they find them, I have them circle the word to keep track of what they have already found. Then they write the word on the recording sheet. You may print and laminate all the colored pieces for use with a dry erase marker, or print off the black and white versions for your students to complete and then use as a color sheet. There are 11 sets of Dolch Words and each I-spy is separated by one of the eleven lists. When they have found 20 unduplicated words, they read them to a friend or their teacher. Sometimes my students like to race to see who can find them all first and read them correctly. As your students’ word recognition changes, so can you adjust the level of sight words they search for in each picture.
