It has been quite the ‘random’ week so I’m linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching Blog for their Five for Friday linky party. First of all, there was not school last Friday nor this past Monday due to weather in Northern Michigan. Our kiddos have now missed something like 8 or 9 days. Believe I have lost count. All I know is it seems like ALOT. With that and the PD day we had today only had a three day week with a Valentine’s Party in the middle . . . now you know why I say random!
So anyway, here ya go…5 random pictures from my week.
We’ve been working on some Jim Dine inspired painted hearts during our ‘learning center’ art station. This is only the first step. It never ceases to amaze me how much kinders love to paint. I love it too, but there never seems to be enough time. I’m glad I MADE myself make time for it.
Monsters Love to Race to 30 Place Value Game. I made this for my classroom last year after being inspired by Oceans of First Grade. I knew my kinders wouldn’t be able to start out with Race to 100 or even 50, to remade it to ‘race to 30’ to get them started. It’s a classroom favorite. After getting Mrs. A’s ok, I made an Easter Freebie that you can grab up if your interested. Just click on the picture above and it will take you to it.
Medial sound sort freebie for your sensory table. I placed the vowel labels on some little buckets on the window ledge next to my sensory table for my kinders to sort their picture into as they found them. If you didn’t pick them up before, you ahead and click on the picture to get your freebie.
My kinders loved making these Valentine’s bunnies to put on their Valentine’s card bags. These are from my friend Hadar over at Miss Kindergarten Love. Aren’t they sweet. She has the most amazing little craftivities.
My kinders are rocking out their addition to 10 with this self-correcting addition practice mat. It’s part of my Loving Math Stations Galore pack.
With nearly 20 years of experience as a full-time kindergarten teacher, I’m committed to creating a classroom where learning is joyful, engaging, challenging, and fun. Each day, I work to ensure that my students feel successful through instruction that considers their unique interests, learning profiles, and readiness levels. I believe that students should be excited to come to class and enjoy a myriad of hands-on activities that encourage exploration and discovery.
While I continue to teach full-time, I find so much joy in connecting and building friendships with teachers worldwide. It’s why I started this blog back in 2012. My hope has become a reality as I have been able to forge relationships with teachers, sharing ideas and building friendships beyond my little neck of the woods through professional development sessions and this blog.
So by all means, take some time to look around and explore A Differentiated Kindergarten. Gather some new ideas, fun tips, and most importantly, don’t forget to reach out and say, ‘Hi!’
