I Can Do It Myself is a self-correcting, independent card station that allows your students to work independently, practice basic skills and check their work without teacher direction or intervention. This unique design is PERFECT for practicing numbers using ten frames with the use of manipulatives, a number line or without either but merely to practice for fluency. Depending on your printer needs, this product provides you with a color and B/W version. I have also added a few BONUS printable practice sheets so you can check your students for understanding or accountability. Use these sheets after your students have had plenty of time to practice with the cards.
This packet is differentiated to meet the readiness levels of your students so you never have to worry about it being too difficult or too easy. You can be confident that you can challenge your students at their level of readiness. This is accomplished by offering different levels of number recognition playing cards. 0-10 are bordered in green. 11-20 are bordered in pink. With these cards, you can choose between three playing mats to have your students simply demonstrate what the number looks like as a ten frame and write the number, or you can extend learning by having them write the number and then write what comes after. There’s even an option for them to use a number line if they need that bit of scaffolding. This set also has cards bordered in blue that will allow your students who are a bit more advanced to work on ‘how many more to make ten.’ Finally, there are a set of cards that are bordered in orange. With these cards, the students will see the number as a ten frame and write the corresponding number on the playing mat, or these cards are great for using alone for fluency. Students can simply sit and verbalize the the number to a friend or in their head, open the card and see if they were correct. There are so many ways to use this set. You choose the cards that best fits your students’ readiness level. And to make it even more independent, I’ve included ‘I Can’ sheets for each activity.
