kiddos will join school next week and I am having enough time to prepare the classes with my lovely team. I am having centers for the first time and am stuck with teachers’ fear and hesitation. thanks a lot for the great power and enthusiasm that you have given me in reading your blog, so they might learn and be encouraged too. Week 3 here. I am using planbook as well! I would love to see your 1st and 2nd week plans. I am struggling to fit it all in using Daily 5. This week I am using your week 1 and 2 lesson plans for introducing the centers. I was so frustrated today! I really need to see how you get your read to self time squeezed in and do your 3 daily 5 times as well as math, calendar etc. please help!!!! Good luck with your first day!
ooooo don’t get frustrated…reflect and adjust . . . reflect and adjust . . . not every class is the same and sometimes there needs to be adjusting and tweaking…it’s ok…it’s only the third week of school and you had a long weekend. Kinders forget how to write their name over a long weekend…tomorrow is a new day. Take it slow…plan for extra time and if something doesn’t get done…there’s always tomorrow. BTW I use a really good BIG timer to keep me on schedule or it would never happen for me.
Good luck
Marsha

With nearly 20 years of experience as a full-time kindergarten teacher, I’m committed to creating a classroom where learning is joyful, engaging, challenging, and fun. Each day, I work to ensure that my students feel successful through instruction that considers their unique interests, learning profiles, and readiness levels. I believe that students should be excited to come to class and enjoy a myriad of hands-on activities that encourage exploration and discovery.
While I continue to teach full-time, I find so much joy in connecting and building friendships with teachers worldwide. It’s why I started this blog back in 2012. My hope has become a reality as I have been able to forge relationships with teachers, sharing ideas and building friendships beyond my little neck of the woods through professional development sessions and this blog.
So by all means, take some time to look around and explore A Differentiated Kindergarten. Gather some new ideas, fun tips, and most importantly, don’t forget to reach out and say, ‘Hi!’
