Fun Buggy Base Ten Freebie

It’s that time of the year when my kinders are feeling confident and ready to run with base ten activities.  One of there favorite activities is one that is inspired by a freebie created by Ocean’s of First Grade Fun’s Yolanda (She’s awesome isn’t she?) during the Debbie Diller’s Math Stations Book Study a couple of years ago.  I loved the idea, but I knew that my kinders needed a bit different tiering to make it work for their readiness level.  I contacted Yolanda and she gave me her blessing to create my own tiered version to offer to all you kinder teachers for free.

I’ve made a couple of different themes in the past, but I needed one for my buggy for spring unit and came up with this one.

Of course, I had to test it out with my own Pre-K and Kinder at home.  I was amazed at how easily my Pre-K sweetie picked up the idea of ‘oh I have 6 ones and I need 4 more before I can trade up for a ten rod.’  He loved it.  The Race to 30 level was a perfect pace for him.

I really hope you can use this in your classroom.  Just click on the picture below to get your copy.

And please make sure you can visit Yolanda’s site and check out her great ideas.  What am I saying?  You probably already know how wonderful she is.

If you’re looking for other Spring Buggy products, here’s a couple that might fit the bill.  Check them out.

    Hi Marsha,
We are looking for reasonably priced base ten blocks to add to our kindergarten collection. Could you let me know where you got yours from- most of the sets I am finding have lots of hundred blocks and not as many ten sticks and one cubes. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the freebie. I teach first and we learned double digit addition and will go back in a few weeks and do it with regrouping. This is the perfect ‘sneaky’ fun way to kinda introduce it without them knowing.

I’m going to check out Oceans of 1st Grade Fun now! Thanks again.
