As each class leaves my classroom at the end of the year and I prepare for a new one, I can't help but marvel at how far they have come. In so many areas they grow, but none more than with their fine motor skills. I cringe at the thought of what each fall brings in terms of my new students and their fine motor abilities. Is it just me or has there been a drastic decline in the number of students who enter kindergarten with good hand strength and the ability to manipulate objects . . . ... VIEW POST

Our favorite family tradition . . .25 Days of Christmas Kindness
Please note: this post was originally written several years ago when my boys were very young. Since then, we continue the tradition of 25 Days of Christmas Kindness. Even though they are mostly taller than me these days, it continues to be our most favorite Christmas tradition. I haven't always been faithful about taking pictures, but I have added some pictures through the years to this post to give you an idea of how this tradition continues to feed our family's souls. I know that the calendar has announced that ‘It's Spring.’ But as I look out my deck window, I still see three feet of snow. Will it never leave? But with one of me and my allotted aide time, how on earth could I make it happen? I had to try and give my kinders the opportunity to be independent and take control of their own learning. I ... Trying To Keep All My Balls In the Air.
We teacher-moms are nothing but expert jugglers. How many balls do we have up in the air at one time anyway? If you have little ones at all, you know what I'm talking about. Well, it's been one of those couple of weeks. I kind of feel like the little fish on Nemo but instead of swimmin' I "just keep juggling, just keep juggling . . " I had great intentions of getting a freebie out to you all this week. But alas, life happens . . . I promise, I'll get ... VIEW POST
