This base ten place value activity is meant to get your students moving. It is especially appealing to your kinesthetic learners and is tiered to meet the various readiness levels of all your students. There are three tiers (0-20, 21-50 and 51-100) that are color coded for your students’ and your convenience. Each tier has three different recording sheets from which you can choose. I do this to extend learning and so that you can get more than one or two uses out of this activity. Each recording sheet is available in either color or black and white.
Print, cut and laminate the place value cards. Mount them with painters tape around your classroom. Each tier contains 12 cards, Students use the corresponding colored recording sheets to identify the value of the numbered bug with that colored border. Blue borders represent numbers 1-20, pink borders represent 21-50 and green borders are 51-100.
