Before I start this chapter review, I need to preface it with the fact that Daily 5 has been successful in my classroom mainly because I have been able to adapt it to my kindergarten students and their needs and behaviors. You can’t be afraid to do the same. Just because something doesn’t work, don’t ditch the whole philosophy! It's just like what we know about differentiated instruction . . . Assess, instruction, adjust! Each year that you do it, you will find ... VIEW POST

Differentiated Kindergarten’s 100 Days Smarter and It’s Time to Start Thinking Green!
There are days when I thought we weren’t going to make it, but we finally did! We are now a 100 Days Smarter for the 2013-2014 school year. Despite many snow days which delayed it from happening (only 8 for my district so far), 100s Day has come and gone. As I like to tell my boys, we are now officially on the slippery downhill slope of the school year. Yippeee! But really, who doesn't love 100s day? All the celebrating and super charged fun are just more reasons to love kindergarten. ... VIEW POST

Differentiated Kindergarten’s St. Patrick’s Day Survived!
It’s one of my most favorite times of the year, but it's also so darn exhausting. Seriously, being a trickily leprechaun is no easy task. And keeping the magic of the season alive for little ones, while so incredibly fun, can poop a poor kindergarten teacher-mom right out. But I couldn't let the year go by with at least giving you a bit of a pictorial tour of all the shenanigans happening around my class and home. So pull up a chair and check out our St. Patrick's Day fun! Of ... VIEW POST
Getting ready for some St. Patrick’s Day fun . . . and a freebie!
It's that time of year! When wee little McGuire boys start being more observant than ever. Mom, who moved my backpack? Who messed up my bed? Who put an empty cereal box back in the cupboard? Now any other time of the year, that would mean absolutely NOTHING to them. But this time of year...we start suspecting LEPRECHAUNS. So I'm linking up with my friend Mary over at Sharing Kindergarten, to give you a peek at some of my St. Pat's Day fun both at home and at school.Anyone ... VIEW POST
100s Day Exhaustion and Streamers Are My Friend.
I'm 100 Days Exhausted! Yep. I said it! It took long enough to get here with all the snow days we've had in Northern Michigan, but we made it. 100 days!!! And if it wasn't enough for me to plan a 100s party. I also had a Minute to Win It 9th Birthday party for my son this weekend too. (I'll save pictures of that for later. You're gonna love it. It was GREAT fun but again . . . EXHAUSTED!!)So anyway, I know all the rest of you have already had the pleasure of ... VIEW POST
