Description

Top Bananas Letter Mastery
This unit includes activities and a system to motivate young students to learn and master their letters fluently.

This unit includes over 30 pages of activities and items to help your students master their letters. It is set up very much like my Ball Words Sight Word Mastery System and is a natural introduction.

Here’s everything you get:
Monkey Cards For Making Letter Rings-Students use these cards on a ring to practice during reading, rest or free activity time. Make 4-5 sets so that there are plenty available at any given time.
Monkey Cards to be used for use with Monkey vines. I string ropes from my ceiling but you can do it from 2 chairs and students sort and pin to appropriate vine.
Monkey Cards to be used for letter slap-Lay the balls on the table or floor, a teacher or volunteer calls out a monkey card letter and students race to cover it with a flyswatter or by tossing a bean bag on it.
Monkey cards for use in Go Bananas Game
Ball cards for use in Banana Split Game
Ball cards to be used for Top Banana Memory-This can be played on a table or in a small Target Dollar Bin pocket chart.
Small monkey letter cards for use with recording sheet.-Students move the bottle around to monkey letters, circle either the capital or lowercase letter on the recording sheet and write the answer next to it.
Top Bananas I-Spy with recording sheet-Students search for hidden Dolch 1 words. When they find them, they write them on the recording sheet and read them to a partner.
Top Banana Certificates and Bananas-Print, complete, laminate and present to your students as they pass their baseball word list.
Progress monitor sheet to track students fluency when assessing. Because my district uses Diebels testing, I monitor how many letters the can identify in one minute.

Hey, I’m Marsha

Welcome to my blog!

With nearly 20 years of experience as a full-time kindergarten teacher, I’m committed to creating a classroom where learning is joyful, engaging, challenging, and fun. Each day, I work to ensure that my students feel successful through instruction that considers their unique interests, learning profiles, and readiness levels. I believe that students should be excited to come to class and enjoy a myriad of hands-on activities that encourage exploration and discovery.

While I continue to teach full-time, I find so much joy in connecting and building friendships with teachers worldwide. It’s why I started this blog back in 2012. My hope has become a reality as I have been able to forge relationships with teachers, sharing ideas and building friendships beyond my little neck of the woods through professional development sessions and this blog.

So by all means, take some time to look around and explore A Differentiated Kindergarten. Gather some new ideas, fun tips, and most importantly, don’t forget to reach out and say, ‘Hi!’
