Wanna See What’s Inside My Stitch Fix Box . . . and A Giveaway!
By
If this can work for me, this can work for you!!!! I promise you! No one is worse at shopping for clothes than I am. I’m putting it right on the table. I HATE shopping. I hate it. I’m not one of those people that can spend the day going from shop to shop to shop to find the best deal and the best looking outfits. When I doshop, I just think . . . “there are so many other things I would rather be doing . . . And so many things I can do BETTER than this.” I hate trying on clothes at a store . . . “TIME SUCKER.” So I throw a few things in my cart, get them home and haul myself back to the store to return 99% of what I originally purchased. I think some of it also has to do with the fact that I don’t feel confident in knowing what looks good together and what looks good on me. Add the fact that I’m no spring chicken doesn’t help. While I’d like to dress trendy, I do not want to look like a grandma in aztec leggings and a tank top. Needless to say, shopping is a stressed in my life!
Enter . . . Stitch Fix! If you are using it, “OH MY GOSH . . . don’t you love it?” and if you aren’t, pull up a chair next to me and let me tell you about the most perfect online service a girl like me could hope for in her wildest dreams.
(And here’s a little something to keep you scrolling . . . I love it so much. I’m having a giveaway! Just keep reading.)
I first heard of Stitch Fix from my blogging pal Maria at Kinder-Craze. She had posted about her first ‘fix’ and the next morning my teaching neighbor, Kerri, came into my class and said, “That Stitch Fix thing that Maria posted about is PERFECT for you. You hate shopping!” I know, right? So I decided to jump on board and check it out.
My Fix
Let me tell you first about my fix and then I’ll explain a little about how it works. My first fix arrived this week. I have to admit, I was a little excited and a little nervous. When I opened the box up I was immediately impressed by the presentation. Clothes weren’t shoved into plastic bags like when you order something online. The box was well packed and there was obviously much thought put into what the first glimpse of your fix would be when you open the box.
A personalized note from my stylist (yes I did say MY stylist — Can you believe I have a stylist?) was waiting for me, explaining why she chose the pieces she did for me, along with some style suggestion cards and my bill — IF I decided to keep the pieces.
The instructions for your ‘fix’ are also thoughtfully placed on the inside cover of you box so that you know exactly what you need to do. It’s so easy.
And then I opened up the box and took out the pieces.
There was color . . . something I’m not necessarily used to seeing in my closet.
The first item I took out was a cotton knit v-neck top in this amazing color.
I NEVER had considered wearing something this shade before, but when I put the top on my husband even commented that it was a shade that I should wear more often. More often? What was he talking about? I had NEVER worn this color. It was gorgeous. And, of course, the best part of having a stylist is that they show you exactly how to pair the items they send you with items you already have.
Cindy, that’s my stylist, also sent me a light weight ivory cardigan. It was incredibly soft and so pretty.
It was a very versatile piece that I could have paired with several things I already had in my closet, and, of course, I also had my stylist’s suggestions too.
A striped maxi skirt was the next item in my fix. Again, this cotton was so soft. I couldn’t believe how comfortable this skirt felt on.
I seldom, I mean almost never wear a skirt or dress (I have three little boys and teach kindergarten remember), but I could totally see myself in this skirt because of the comfort factor.
Cindy also included a jacket in my fix.
I loved the olive color and it had a ton of detail with it’s gold snaps and huge pockets.
But then there was my favorite piece. . . a stud detailed sheer blouse.
I loved the detail in this blouse. The suggested pairings were totally up my alley. Except instead of an open-toed shoe with jeans, I would pair it with boots. There is still three feet of snow on my deck and it was only 35 degrees today, so sandals aren’t really happening any time soon.
So I decided to try it on and see if I could manage a picture or two in the meantime. Now let me tell you, anyone that can take a picture of themselves in a mirror and make it look halfway presentable, is a genius in my book.
I had to start with getting the right setting and then at one point my little boys came in and had me laughing and then there was the deer in the headlight photos.
But finally, after getting the angel of the camera just right and being able to sneak a preview peek, I think I got a picture in this gorgeous shirt.
You want to know something . . . I think I’ve been reformed. I LOVE shopping like this. This fix was a blast and I know that it can be a blast for you too. Now, before you poo-poo it or think that you’re too old, too young, too tall, too short or too broke, listen to see how it works and just trust me for a moment.
How it works
When you sign up for Stitch Fix, you tell them all about your lifestyle, likes, dislikes and how much you would like to spend on your ‘fix.’ So don’t worry! You set your budget. You pick a shipping date and Stitch Fix sends you 5 items for you to try on. You pay $20 for the stylist to pick out those 5 items (that $20 is used as a credit that can be applied to any item or items that you keep from the shipment).
When your items arrive, take them out and try them on with items you already have in your own closet. Take three days to decide which items you would like to keep or return. If you keep any of your items, you just head to the checkout page of your account and complete your purchase. (If you buy all the items, you get a nice 25% off discount.) Need to return a couple of items? It’s so easy. They send you a prepaid bag in your fix box. You load up the items in a bag and drop the prepaid bag off at your nearest post office.
After each fix, you go back in and leave feedback for your stylist and each ‘fix’ after just gets better and better with the more “fixes” and more feedback.
I’m telling you, this kind of shopping was such a pleasant experience for me. No trying on clothes in a store, feeling rushed, not knowing what goes with what . . . it was easy and . . . I had fun!

Oh, and I bet you want to know what I kept huh? Well, I despite loving my ‘fix.’ None of my items actually fit me. The blouse that I loved, loved, loved was just a bit too tight across the shoulders and everything else, thanks to a recent weight loss of 20 pounds, was a bit too big. But I already have my next fit scheduled, and I can’t wait to see what my stylist has picked out for me. Stop back to find out.
