Description

This packet is a GREAT VALUE if you interested in differentiating your write the room activities for math.

This write the room activity will appeal to your kinesthetic learners while meeting the various readiness levels of your students.
This activity meets Common Core State Standards:
K.CC.A.2: Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence.
K.CC.A.3: Write numbers from 0-20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20.
K.CC.B.4a: When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number with one and only one name and object.
K.CC.B.5: Count to answer ‘how many’ questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20 count out that many objects.
K.OA.A.5: Fluently add and subtract to five.

There are five tiers to this packet. The addition and subtraction tiers each include two separate sets of activities for a total of 9 separate activities to extend and make this packet last through several uses as your students progress. The yellow tier is for your learners who still have not mastered counting and writing numbers 0-20 and number order. This tier features 12 squares with various numbers of objects 0-20. Students count the objects, write the number in the box on their recording sheet and then write the number that comes before and after. The next tier, the pink tier, is for students beginning to add. There are cards with pictures of two objects and corresponding recording sheet. Students search the room for these cards, record the number of each object and then add them together, recording their answer. The purple tier is also for addition but this includes addition to 10. This tier will provide a bit more challenge for those students who have mastered addition to 5 but have not yet started subtraction. The green tier is for students starting to use subtraction. It includes subtraction from 5. The last tier, is for students who have mastered subtraction from 5 and are ready for subtraction from 10. There are black and white recording sheets as well as color for each activity. If you enjoy this product, please check out:

Hey, I’m Marsha

Welcome to my blog!

With nearly 20 years of experience as a full-time kindergarten teacher, I’m committed to creating a classroom where learning is joyful, engaging, challenging, and fun. Each day, I work to ensure that my students feel successful through instruction that considers their unique interests, learning profiles, and readiness levels. I believe that students should be excited to come to class and enjoy a myriad of hands-on activities that encourage exploration and discovery.

While I continue to teach full-time, I find so much joy in connecting and building friendships with teachers worldwide. It’s why I started this blog back in 2012. My hope has become a reality as I have been able to forge relationships with teachers, sharing ideas and building friendships beyond my little neck of the woods through professional development sessions and this blog.

So by all means, take some time to look around and explore A Differentiated Kindergarten. Gather some new ideas, fun tips, and most importantly, don’t forget to reach out and say, ‘Hi!’
