The beginning of the kindergarten year is such a blur. About halfway through it, you try to look back and figure out exactly how it all started. It gets difficult to remember the hard work and organization that it took to get your from there to where you are now, but by remembering the parts that went well and the parts that didn't, you can always improve each year. So I'm trying, desperately to make sure I document these first days of math stations and now Daily 5 Stations so I can adjust ... VIEW POST
Setting Up For A Successful Year Of Daily 5 In Kindergarten
Back To School Face To Face
In a time when everything is 'unprecedented' and 'new territory,' I just finished up my first days of Face-to-Face teaching in my new (old) classroom with my class of 20 kindergarteners. I thought it might be interesting to share a little bit of what I did to prepare to come back to school in my part of the country, and how it went. This post does contain some affiliate links for your shopping convenience. I do receive a small commission when someone purchases an item after clicking ... VIEW POST
The Reality of The First Day of Math Stations
I'm following up as promised. Last week I gave you some detailed steps on how to set up and organize your stations with my post, Setting Up Math Stations For A Successful Year. This week I wanted to let you know how I introduce them and what the reality of first day math stations actually looked like in my classroom. MAKING THE INTRODUCTION This is probably the question I get most often from teachers. How in the world do you introduce math stations? What's the secret? I can't really ... VIEW POST
Sensory Tubs In Kindergarten

Sensory activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. But activities found in Sensory Tubs are also perfect for practicing essential skills. Let me show you what I mean. Where Have All The Sensory Tubs Gone? I recently conducted a poll on Facebook, specifically ... VIEW POST
Rolling The Dice
Some time last fall, before MacKale got sick, SDE (Staff Development for Educators) contacted me to ask if I might be willing to present this summer at their National I Teach K and Differentiated Instruction conferences in Vegas. While I was a bit nervous at the prospect, I accepted their offer. But then, of course, my teaching world as I knew it came to a screeching halt. I wavered back and forth, not knowing where I would be or where MacKale would be in his treatment this summer. I felt ... VIEW POST
Excuse me ma’am but your laminate is showing . . . and it’s TIME for a freebie.
Ok so it wasn't my biggest pile of laminate and cutting ever but it was big enough (only 163 pages). I just hate it when I put off the cutting part. Laminating is kind of like doing laundry for me. I enjoy doing laundry, but I despise folding and putting away clothes. Likewise, I LOVE laminating. Heck, I have my own personal laminator at home and another one in my classroom (just in case) even though our school has two of their own. All my student ... VIEW POST
